I’m New…

Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome
We know it takes courage to even decide to walk into a unfamiliar building with people you don’t know and be comfortable. If you are new to worshiping God or have never attended worship in a Lutheran congregation, please use the information below in so that you can prepare yourself just a little bit more. Please feel free to contact the pastor or the church office if you have any additional questions ahead of time.  On Sundays, greeters and the church elders will also be available to answer any questions you may have.

What can I expect in the worship services at Christ the Redeemer?
Worship is an important part of our Christian lives and our Lutheran heritage. Though our faith is lived out every day in our work and play, we come together every Sunday morning to share in God’s word and meal, to build one another up, and to prepare our hearts to share the grace of the Gospel in the coming week.  We worship every Sunday in two traditional services, one early at 8:15 a.m. and the other later at 10:45 a.m., both following the format of the Lutheran Divine Service.  Each service is based on the same order of readings and music, although some differences can be expected, especially in the service where worship includes Holy Communion.

Pastor B leads our Modern Service Sundays at 12:15 pm alongside our house band as we strive to provide worship saturated in singing God’s praise, hearing His Word, and receiving His gifts every week.

What should I wear to worship?
The Tulsa metro area has a great mix of people and clothing styles. People feel comfortable attending church dressed casually as well as formally, both for weekend and midweek services. You can wear just about anything and fit right in at Christ the Redeemer. We are more concerned with meeting you and and helping you grow spiritually than with what you wear to church.

When should I arrive for worship?

Our services begin at 8:15 a.m., 10:45 a.m., and 12:15 p.m. on Sundays.  If you have children (nursery available 8:00 am – noon), or need a little extra time getting around, it would help to arrive 10-15 minutes early to allow time to find a place to sit, restrooms and get settled in.

Will I be able to follow along?
Absolutely! Our printed Sunday bulletins are available from an usher as you enter the Sanctuary and will guide you through the liturgy so that you may participate in worship. A digital version is also available on our Worship webpage.

Should I give at the offering?
The offering is a time for the congregation to give back to God and to be stewards of our world, our community, and our church. If you feel moved to give at the offering, feel free, but there are no expectations. We do ask that if you are visiting Christ the Redeemer, that you note your attendance in the folder at the end of the pew so that we will know you worshiped with us.

I attended a service and liked the sermon, where can I find it?
Sunday sermons are posted on our website.  Please see the Media for a video.  Sermons via Podcast are available on iTunes.
