THE FEBRUARY CTR-U CRAFT CLASS will be held on February 7 at 5:30. It is a Valentine wall hanging. Sign up at the display in the narthex. The class is limited to 12 participants and will cost $7.00.

SOUTH TULSA COMMUNITY HOUSE also has a need for clean styrofoam or paper egg cartoons.  Please drop off any donations to the cart at the south entrance.
 
APPRECIATION RECEPTION FOR OUR ECC DIRECTOR NIKKI WITT: Parish Life will be hosting a reception during the Sunday school hour on January 28 honoring our ECC Director, Nikki Witt. Nikki has worked at the church for 11 years and has been the director at ECC for eight years. We will also be observing Lutheran School Week during this time. Join us!
 
CONGREGATION MEETING has been rescheduled for January 28 at noon following a potluck. Members are asked to bring a main course or side dish to share and the board members will provide the desserts. Babysitting will be provided. Please attend.
 
THE ANNUAL CTR WOMEN’S RETREAT is March 2-4 at Camp Lutherhoma. This year’s theme is “Sip, Savor and Drink Deeply.” Cost is $75 and includes programming, activities, lodging and meals. Open to all CTR women 21 and over and their friends. Space is limited. Contact DCE Suzanne to register or for more details.
 
FATHER-DAUGHTER DINNER is February 17. All fathers, grandfathers, godfathers, and fathers-in-law are welcome with their daughters! Cost is $25 per couple and $5 each additional person. This year’s theme is “Girl’s Rock!” so get ready for a fun night of dinner, desserts and dancing! Tickets for sale beginning January 21.

JR HIGH RETREAT (6th-8th grade) January 26-28, 2018. The Jr High Retreat is only for CTR youth and friends. This annual event brings together our 6th-8th grade students and friends for a weekend of Bible study, fellowship and team building. Jr High Retreat @ Camp Lutherhoma in Tahlequah. Cost is $70 per Jr high student or friend & $35 per high school student leader DUE TODAY. You can sign up by returning a check for the registration amount (see above) & the form.
 
SUMMER MISSION TRIP (6th-12th grade) June 23-July 1,  2018. The deadline to sign up for the youth summer trip to Florida is January 28. Both Jr High & High School youth may register. In order to attend and reserve your spot you must complete the form and return it with a $50 non-refundable deposit.
 
INCREDIBLE LOCK-IN (6th-12th grade) Feb. 18-19, 2018. The regional LCMS youth lock-in at Incredible Pizza is February 18-19 and open to Jr High & High School students.  RSVP and $30 non-refundable payment due no later than February 4 to attend. All Tulsa area LCMS churches are invited to attend and you can bring a friend as well. To attend please return your $30 and submit a 2018 medical/permission form.
 
OK’D IN CHRIST (9th-12th grade) March 9-11, 2018. The Oklahoma District High School Youth Gathering will be March 9-11 at the Embassy Suites in Norman, OK. Early registration is $100 and due February 4 afterwards the price goes up to $135. Friends invited to attend as well! Cost includes programming, travel, hotel, meals and a t-shirt! This year’s band is The Homesteaders and the speaker is Gabe Kaspar who has previously worked with the National Youth Gathering! To attend please complete the form and return it with a $100 non-refundable deposit.
 
YOUTH FORMS: All forms are now downloadable on the youth page of the CTR website. The 2018 Permission/Medical form is good for the entire year as long as your insurance and medical information does not change. This must be returned BEFORE a student attends any trip or youth event in 2018.

LWML PLANS WORKDAY AT OPERATION SCHOOL BELL on Tuesday. All ladies are invited to join them as they help to provide school clothing for students in the area. Meet at the church by 8:45 and carpool over.

JOURNEY IN JANUARY  (9th-12th grade) ; High School retreat at Camp Lutherhoma Journey is a high school Christian retreat (Jan. 12-14) that is planned, orchestrated, and run by High School Youth from around the state. Your linens, bedding and towels will be provided. If space is still available after December 10th, you may register up until December 24th for $140. Cost includes transportation, meals and housing for the weekend as well as all programming and a t-shirt. You can sign up by returning a check for the registration amount (see above) & the form. You will not complete a medical form until after January 1st.

DOOR OFFERING: There will be a door offering in support of the ECC on December 3.

CRAFT FAIR: Join us for our 2nd Annual Craft Fair December 2 from 10-4:00! Vendor fees will go to the ECC and CTR Youth Ministry as a fundraiser.  

LWML WOMEN’S CHRISTMAS DINNER is Dec. 14 at 6 pm in the fellowship hall. Tickets are $15 each, payable to LWML and go on sale next Sunday. Guests are asked to bring feminine hygiene products as a donation for Tulsa Day Center for the homeless. Questions?? contact Carol Fruehling at 805-1604. If you need a ride to the dinner, contact Carol.

FINAL CHANCE TO SIGN UP FOR THE CTR CHRISTMAS PARTY: Plan now to attend this year’s party on December 9 from 5-8:00 at the Glenpool Convention Center. Tickets are on sale at $15 per adult. Please pay for your tickets on Sunday. Childcare will be available at the church for 10 and under and pizza will be provided for them.  Jenks Vocal Choir will be our entertainment.
 
CHURCH DECORATING: The Elders and Altar Guild will be decorating the church for Christmas on Monday, Dec. 4, at 6:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to come them. Pizza will be served. Questions?? call Bernie Zanter or Wanda Radke.
 
CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PROGRAM: Practices are being held during Sunday school for this year’s program on December 13th at 7:00 p.m. Dress rehearsal, however, will be during Faith Friends on December 6. If you have any questions, please contact DCE Myrthe at families@ctrtulsa.org.

HIGH SCHOOL CHRISTMAS LOCK-IN (9th-12th grade): January 20th-21st @ Immanuel in Broken Arrow. Cost is $0 to attend. JR HIGH RETREAT (6th-8th grade): The Jr High Retreat is only CTR youth and friends. This annual event brings together our 6th-8th grade students and friends for a weekend of Bible study, fellowship and team building. Jr High Retreat @ Camp Lutherhoma in Tahlequah January 26-28, 2018. Cost is $70 per jr high student or friend & $35 per high school student leader You can sign up by returning a check for the registration amount (see above) & the form. You will not complete a medical form until after January 1st.

We also need clean and labels removed prescription bottles which we use to distribute shampoo, body wash/soap and the like. They request that you not donate any Ramon noodles.
 

COLLECTION CENTER: Please remember to collect various ink cartridges and electronic equipment for the LWML; food and household supplies for South Tulsa Community House; various labels for ECC (check out the collection center for a list); various coupons for the military; eye glasses for MOST Ministries. GIVING TUESDAY: You’ve probably heard of Black Friday, but have you heard of Giving Tuesday? Giving Tuesday, observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, takes the focus off of the commercialism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday and instead celebrates giving back. our goal is to use Giving Tuesday to spread the Gospel message by raising money and awareness for LWML Mission Grants, which share the love of Jesus throughout all nations. www.lwml.org/givingtuesday

CLUB 3-4-5: On November 10th, Club 345 will be adventuring to the Oklahoma Aquarium to sleep under the sharks! This will be a night filled with tons of fun and learning about God’s under the sea creatures! The registration fee for this event will be $40 per student and will include snacks, behind the scenes access to exhibits, many fun and educational activities, a flashlight tour, movie time, a devotional experience, sleeping under the sharks and breakfast the next morning! If your child is planning on attending please submit your $40 and medical release papers (can be found in the Family and Children’s Ministry Office) to DCE Intern Myrthe by Sunday November 4th.

THANKSGIVING BASKETS: Donations of canned food, non-perishable items and household products are needed no later than November 12 for this year’s baskets. Monetary donations to purchase gift cards so families can buy perishable items for their Thanksgiving meal can be placed in the offering plate with Thanksgiving basket on the memo line or dropped off at the collection table.

FLOOD BUCKET PROJECT: CTR will be collecting flood buckets, along with other OK District congregations, to help those affected by the recent hurricanes. Families are asked to purchase a 5-gallon bucket with lid and fill it with paper towels, disposable rags, glass cleaner, cleansing powder, liquid cleaner, 1-gallon size bleach, scrub brush, sponge(s) and 2 pairs of rubber gloves. These buckets should be brought to the church no later than Sunday, Oct. 15.

Advent Devotional! The season of Advent is almost upon us. Please prayerfully consider writing a devotion to contribute to this year’s book, “The Genealogy of Christ: A Savior for Sinners.” We will be exploring different people from both Matthew and Luke’s genealogies in the build up to the Savior of the nations coming into the world! This year’s cost is $130 for a CTR Student and $95 for CTR Friends (*Note a friend is a non-church member.) Please turn in your forms ASAP so we can reserve spots!!! You may pay a $55 non-refundable fee to hold your spot when you turn in your form and the rest on or before Sept, 30.  We will depart from CTR on Friday at 5:30 PM and return Sunday afternoon between 2:30-3:00 PM.
 

All NEW Sunday Night Youth Schedule! Beginning in September we will have youth events 2 Sundays a month from 3:00-5:00 PM! You will have the option of participating in a Confirmation class or a Small Group Bible Study followed by a light snack and games. Other weeks we will have weekend retreats or special events.

INTRODUCING CLUB 345! We are kick starting Club 345 (our third, fourth, and fifth grade youth group) with a trip to Pumpkin Town Farms on October 1st at 1:00 p.m. We are asking that every child has at least one parent or guardian in attendance.  With that being said, there will be a $5 payment per person due by Sunday, September 24th. After late service on October 1, we will be offering a pizza lunch for an additional $3 per person. Once we are done with lunch, the plan is to caravan over to the pumpkin patch.  We hope to have all our awesome third, fourth, and fifth graders at this first Club 345 event!

LWML FALL FEST is hosted by King of Kings at CTR on Sept. 16. Registration/coffee begins at 8:30. Patti Ross will be the speaker. Mission offering is baby diapers, formula, snack items (pudding’/fruit cups, PB/cheese crackers, etc.) Check out the registration forms at the LWML table in the narthex. 
 
LWML KICKOFF BRUNCH will be at First Watch (81st & Lewis) at 10:30 on Sept. 19. All ladies are invited. Please sign up at the display in the narthex.
 
LWML PACKING DAY will be Sept. 26. If you’d like to help pack up the various items that have been collected for LWR, please plan to attend at 10:00.
 
SOCIAL SECURITY: STRATEGIZE to MAXIMIZE is a workshop hosted by Thrivent Financial. Learn how to sort your options to ensure your choices will meet your needs. OUTREACH FOOD DRIVE for South Tulsa is next week!
 
Young Adults Bible Study! On October 3rd we will be kicking off our young adult’s Bible study. The night will start at 6:30 p.m. at Taziki’s on 71st and Yale. After dinner, we will head back to church for a Bible Study on “You Lost Me.” If your schedule is crowded, you are welcome to come to just dinner or just the Bible Study. Advent Devotional! The season of Advent is almost upon us. Please prayerfully consider writing a devotion to contribute to this year’s book, “The Genealogy of Christ: A Savior for Sinners.” We will be exploring different people from both Matthew and Luke’s genealogies in the build up to the Savior of the nations coming into the world! COLLEGE STUDENT MINISTRY: Ministry of Education needs your children’s college mailing addresses. We are planning to send out at least seven mailings this school year. Without an address your child will not receive our mailings. Please send their mailing addresses to connie.phillips@ctrtulsa.org or call 492-6451. Our first mailing will be mailed out in October. MISSION SUNDAY is Sept. 24. Our guest speaker will be Pastor Hesham Chehab from Salam Christian Fellowship in Chicago where he ministers to the Muslin community. LWML will provide the lunch as a thank you to CTR for their support of LWML/LWR mission projects. A free-will offering will be taken to help support Pastor Chehab’s ministry. Please plan to attend.
 
WHAT KIND OF CROSS WOULD YOU LIKE? Evangelism is preparing 4-foot crosses designed to be displayed in the ground (picket bottom), hung on a fence, house, tree or wherever you like (flat bottom).  There are four colors (chocolate, vanilla, rose or natural). CONNECT NIGHT: Mark your calendars for the next Connect Night! Our next Connect Night will be October 14th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at DCE Suzanne Watt’s house. We will be offering babysitting once again. Please RSVP by October 10th.
 
ABLAZE BUILDING DEDICATION is Sunday, September 24 at 4:00. Ablaze Church is a satellite of Our Savior. An open house and refreshments will follow the service.

SOUTH TULSA COMMUNITY HOUSE: We are in great need of just about everything “canned,” as well as other proteins such as dried beans, peanut butter, meat based soups. We also need clean and labels removed prescription bottles which we use to distribute shampoo, body wash/soap and the like. They request that you not donate any Ramon noodles.
 

COLLECTION CENTER: Please remember to collect various ink cartridges and electronic equipment for the LWML; food and household supplies for South Tulsa Community House; various labels for ECC (check out the collection center for a list); various coupons for the military; eye glasses for MOST Ministries. All these items can be dropped off at the collection center at the south entrance.
